New Love
As I tried getting back to normal, I sang along to a song from the movie Dirty Dancing. “I’ve . . . had . . . the time of my life.” Russ was my soul mate, my sustainer, and a model partner for a loving relationship. Russ and I had been in a bowling league, and I returned to our team, initially trying to mimic the life we had together. Many of the members were kind and supportive. It took me about six months to open up to the possibility that my life could begin moving forward again. That’s when Robert Orlick, another bowler, expressed the desire to have dinner with me.
